Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Coalville Drama Group (formerly CASDG)?
The Coalville Drama Group are a long established drama group, presenting 4 drama productions a year, usually in March, June, September & December. We started over 50 years ago, as part of the Adult School Movement. Our members come from all walks of life and ages, whose only common interest is a love of drama.
What sort of productions do you present?
There is no play committee, the choice of play being entirely up to the producer. The type of production can be anything, from serious drama to farce and pantomime. Though comedies & pantomimes are most popular!
Where & when do we rehearse?
We rehearse and present our plays at the Old School Theatre Hall, Bridge Road, Coalville, Leicestershire LE67 3PW. We rehearse on Tuesday & Friday nights from 7.30pm.

How many members do you have?
Approximately 45 at present, but new members are always welcome, and as we present 4 productions a year, everyone gets a chance to have a go at any of the roles, on and off stage.
How do I get an audition?
Well we don’t audition! Each production has a different producer who chooses the cast. So if you want to get on stage, you will have to come on down to rehearsals, get to know us, and read in so that producer will get to know your capabilities. Having said that, each producer is very keen to use new faces, so please come and talk to us.
How do I get to produce?
Well, guest producers are always welcome, but we do insist that all producers become members. Producers for the following year are chosen at our AGM every June.
